A collector of the bank of Kassareth, sent north to find a runaway debtor whose file he has carried for nine years. He is polite, exhausted and exact, and he has never failed to close an account. He has also never asked what becomes of the people in his ledger once the account is closed, and lately, on the long roads of the north, he has started to wonder.
